The Lost Thing
A war almost impossible to win. This is symbolised by the way the other things are drawn, not one thing is alike everything is so out of place, awkward, but also absolutely beautiful in their own way, just in the way we human beings are. I know its kind of late but hope it helps. And, yes, I want to see the film; I can see it being an excellent short. In combining and interpreting all of these messages, whether in print text or visual image or allusion, the creative reader forms an individual sense of the meaning s of The Lost Thing. While The Lost Thing is probably not my favourite of his works, it is still an outstanding picture book. The implied reader: The reader needs to have some awareness of how the world is changing due to industrialisation and how it could effect the community and daily life. In both text it is evident that belonging bridges the divide between acceptance and insecurites or nourishment and deprivation of an individual's sense of wellbeing. This in itself is a statement of selfless courage. Techniques: In this double spread the author emphasises the position of the reader to be distant and almost peering in. The creature exists in contrast to the world it inhabits, being whimsical, purposeless, out-of-scale and apparently meaningless - all things that the bureaucracy cannot comprehend, and so it is not worthy of any attention.

The building itself dwarfs any prospective person or thing? The Lost Thing is the story of a curious boy who discovers a gigantic, red, machine-like animal that appears to be lost. The audience is almost being hidden, as though we are not meant to pry into the story, emphasising the recount form. The city is dull and damaged with decaying and rusting buildings; it simply looks tired and lifeless there are no plants in the entire book. The city is populated by self absorbed adults, preoccupied with their ritual habits. I read the story first and then watched the film that was made found on youtube.
