I purchased the book hoping for an enchanting fantasy from a different perspective. So if the Chupwala soldiers got in trouble for talking, their leader, Khattam-Shud, would just charade-. Do not be intimidated by the fact that this was written by Salman Rushdie and all that may imply. As I say, I only just started believing in the Ocean, but maybe it isn't too late for me to do my bit. He tries to help others and brings a good attitude amongst everything he does. Buttoo starts an argument, creating both smelly mist and hot wind. Am I correct in my thinking that the culprit must be the controller — or, could it be the bottom half of the valve? Both my South Asian and western students feel like this story speaks to them with its singsong English idiom, likable young hero, easily accessible symbolism, strong elements of fantasy, and numerous allusions to everything from the Beatles to the 1001 Arabian Nights. Treat this space, and what you say here, as if it were the classroom. He leaves the army because he disagrees with Khattam-Shud and helps the Guppees in their fight against the Chupwala army.
He models that fact that something is going wrong in his fathers life, he will not just sit back and watch it happen.
